Thermal Layer
Helly Hansen Fibrepile™ maintains body warmth by trapping air, which insulates against cold. As heat is retained in the fleece or pile, moisture is moved to the outer layer. This maintains a dry body and a balanced body temperature.
Helly Hansen engineers invented Softpile™ 40 years ago. This "new" insulation layer was the forerunner of fleece, and is still the best when superior insulation is required in particular when air permeability is required at the same time as heat balance maintenance.

Softpile™ has multiple curled fibers that trap air and collect body warmth which is retained in the pile. Pile provides superior thermal insulation. The special, resilient fibers provide a stable and lofty layer, resisting packing and maintaining volume and insulation. The result is pile insulates better than fleece.
Helly Hansen has developed and patented the FibreLock® System, a unique W-weave knitting technique whereby the fibers on the pile side are anchored or locked to the backing. It gives the pile more insulation and volume without increasing the weight. The FibreLock® system provides excellent insulation with extreme durability. Garments are very comfortable to wear and long lasting.
