Rainwear
It is more than 125 years since Helly Juell Hansen first made waterproof clothing for sea workers. In 1877 he took his work clothes and daubed linseed oil on the outside to provide weather protection. It worked - the jackets, trousers, and sou-wester hats became waterproof. The clothing was better than the traditional garments, and sailors rushed to buy from Helly Hansen. It was simple, functional and a truly meaningful innovation - and the company has continued the trend ever since.

Today, garment quality and performance remain vital for comfort, health and safety at work. PVC coated waterproof clothing is durable, and resistant to abrasion, chemicals, acids and oils. PU coated waterproof clothing is lighter, softer and resistant to cold. Both PVC and PU coated fabrics are 100% waterproof. Microwelded™ seams used in Helly Hansen rainwear are 100% waterproof. Two fabric parts are fused into one solid fabric by high frequency welding, and will never fall apart.
We understand that a small leakage in a seam or in the fabric can, under certain circumstances, represent a health risk. Through strict adherence to high manufacturing standards at Helly Hansen we guarantee our 100% waterproof rainwear.
Waterproofness according to DIN 53.866 is 150cm.
